Jar Lid Banjo

Hi Family!

I have often found, during times of hardship, that making music is good for the soul. Today, I thought it would be fun to make our very own musical instrument! This simple jar lid banjo can be crafted in minutes with a few household items.

What You'll Need:

  1. A Jar Lid

  2. 3 Popsicle Sticks

  3. Masking Tape

  4. 4 Small Rubber Bands

  5. Markers

Start by stretching all 4 of your small rubber bands around the jar lid. To ensure that they stay in place once you begin strumming, tape the rubber bands to the backside of the jar lid using your masking tape.

Next, take your popsicle sticks and lay them down side by side on a flat surface and then tape them together in 3 sections. Make sure to wrap your masking tape all the way around your popsicle sticks to keep them firmly in place. Once you have the popsicle sticks taped together, you can color and decorate them however you want.

The last step is to tape your popsicle sticks, which serve as the neck of the banjo, to the back of your jar lid, which serves as the head of the banjo.

Then Voila! You're ready to make music!

Bring your banjo with you to music class and you can strum along during some of our favorites like "BINGO"!

Thank you for allowing us to be a part of your littles growth and development!

Spread Kindness,

Miss Logan
